What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2163-7MS32-0JL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the starter protection version — meaning it's built for motor branch circuits where you need coordinated overload and short-circuit protection in one device. Rated continuous current Iu of 63 A holds at ambient up to 50 °C without derating; above that it steps down to 60.48 A at 55 °C and 56.7 A at 70 °C, so if your panel runs hot, size the load against the thermal curve, not the 63 A label. Breaking capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415/440 V, and still carries 52.5 kA at 690 V — high enough for most industrial main feeders and large motor starters without needing a current-limiting fuse upstream. The overcurrent release is an ETU310M electronic trip unit, which gives you adjustable thermal-magnetic-like curves with better accuracy and selectivity coordination than a thermal-magnetic breaker. Auxiliary contacts are fitted as standard: 2 auxiliary switches, 1 trip alarm switch, and 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ version), plus a shunt trip (STL) release for remote opening. The basic switch core is order code 3VA2163-7MS32-0AA0; the integrated auxiliary trip is 3VA9688-0BL32 — useful to know if you're ordering spares or building a kit.
