The Siemens 3VA2163-7MS36-0HL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed specifically for starter protection — meaning it's sized and characterized to handle the inrush and overload profile of motor starters, not just general distribution. Rated 63 A continuously from 40 °C up to 70 °C, it holds its full ampacity across the typical panel ambient range without derating. Three poles, with a breaking capacity of 330 kA at 240 V and 242 kA at 415 V, so it safely interrupts high-fault currents in industrial low-voltage switchgear without cascading upstream. At 690 V the breaking capacity drops to 3.7 kA — still adequate for most 690 V motor circuits where the supply transformer limits fault current, but worth verifying against the site's available fault level if used on a 690 V bus. The unit ships with a shunt trip (STL) release plus two auxiliary switches, one trip alarm switch, and one electrical alarm switch (HQ configuration), giving the control system full status feedback.
