63 A MCCB with 330 kA interrupting — what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 3VA2163-7MS36-0KC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) in a starter protection version, rated for 63 A continuous current (Iu) with a 3-pole configuration. The ETU310M electronic overcurrent release provides adjustable protection curves, and the breaker carries a latching endurance of 20,000 operations. The shunt trip (STL) release and two HQ auxiliary switches are integrated.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate in the standard SENTRON 3VA footprint. The 86 mm depth is shallow enough to fit a 200 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring gutters. The 75 W maximum power loss means you need to account for heat dissipation in a sealed cabinet — plan for ventilation or derating if the ambient inside the panel exceeds 50 °C. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. The continuous current rating holds at 63 A up to 50 °C ambient; above that it derates to 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs hot, the effective ampacity drops — size your load accordingly.
