160 A MCCB with shunt trip — what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 3VA2216-5HL32-0KA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Three poles, line-protection design, with an integrated shunt trip (STL) release for remote tripping via a control voltage. The 187 kA breaking capacity at 240 V drops to 121 kA at 415/440 V and 75.6 kA at 500 V; at 690 V it still clears 4.5 kA. That means this breaker handles high-fault utility feeds at common distribution voltages without cascading upstream.
Panel fit and integration
Mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount base. Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep — a 3-pole frame that fits standard distribution board cutouts. The shunt trip release occupies the auxiliary slot; no auxiliary switch is fitted on this variant, so if you need remote status feedback, plan for a separate auxiliary switch block.
