160 A continuous, 187 kA at 240 V — selectivity anchor for a 3-pole main
The Siemens 3VA2216-5MP32-0AB0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 160 A continuous across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Three poles, with a breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V. That kind of headroom makes it a main or large-feeder breaker in a panel where fault current is high and selectivity with downstream 3VA1 or 3VA2 breakers matters. Rated insulation voltage 800 V. Communication function and phase failure detection are built in — no external module needed for basic status monitoring or phase-loss trip. The auxiliary switch block comes as 2 HP switches, wired for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator.
Mounting and integration — panel footprint
Footprint: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep. Bolts into a standard MCCB cutout on a panel backplate or into a SENTRON mounting plate. The 3-pole form factor matches existing 3VA2 busbar and lug kits. 19.7 W max power loss at rated load — factor that into enclosure ventilation if the panel is sealed.
Auxiliaries and release options — what ships on the breaker
Ships with 2 HP auxiliary switches, no auxiliary release, no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring. Trip indicator is not fitted (visual flag absent). If you need shunt trip, UVR, or ground-fault add-on, those are separate order codes that plug into the accessory slot.
