Line protection breaker with ETU330 — 160 A continuous, 4-pole
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2216-6HM42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying 160 A continuous at 40 °C through 70 °C with no derating — a flat thermal curve that simplifies panel sizing in warm environments. Breaking capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V AC, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 121 kA at 500 V; at 690 V it still clears 4.5 kA, covering most industrial distribution fault levels. The ETU330 electronic trip unit provides adjustable I²t and instantaneous protection, plus N-conductor protection configurable to OFF, 50%, or 100% of the phase rating — useful for mixed-load panels where neutral sizing varies. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it handles 690 V systems with margin; front IP40 keeps dust out of the enclosure face.
Panel fit and thermal management
Dimensions are 140 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint that drops into SENTRON distribution boards or standalone enclosures without re-drilling the mounting plate. Maximum power dissipation is 19.7 W at rated load; account for this in sealed enclosures to keep internal ambient below 70 °C operating max. Storage range spans -40 °C to 80 °C, so the breaker can sit in an unheated warehouse or container without damage.
