What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2216-7HM42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current of 160 A across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Its interrupting capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V — so on a 480 V panel it clears a 187 kA fault without cascading upstream. The adjustable thermal-magnetic trip is set with a minimum of 240 A and maximum of 1 920 A, giving you a wide coordination window for downstream feeders.
Panel fit and integration
At 140 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep, this MCCB fits a standard 4-pole footprint in a distribution panel. The 86 mm depth leaves room for rear bus connections without a deep enclosure. Ground-fault monitoring uses summation current formation on L + N, so it catches residual faults without a separate GFCI module — handy for a 4-wire system where you want to keep the neutral monitored.
