What this MCCB carries — and what it doesn't
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2216-7MN32-0JL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for motor protection duty. It holds 160 A continuous across the full 40–70 °C ambient range — no derating curve to chase, which simplifies panel build for warm enclosures. The interrupting capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415/440 V, and 187 kA at 500 V; at 690 V it drops to 4.5 kA, so keep that in mind if you're feeding a 690 V bus.
Panel fit and footprint
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA2 frame that drops into the same DIN-rail or screw-mount footprint as other 160 A MCCBs in the series. The 86 mm depth leaves room behind the gland plate for wiring without jamming the backplane.
Trip curve and protection logic
Trip time is adjustable between 4 s and 17 s, which gives you a window to coordinate with downstream motor starters or upstream feeders. Phase failure detection is built in — the breaker opens on loss of a phase, protecting the motor from single-phasing. A trip indicator and voltage trigger are standard; there's no undervoltage release on this variant.
Auxiliary and release options
This unit ships with a shunt trip release (STL) and a full complement of auxiliary switches: 2 auxiliary switches, 1 trip alarm switch, and 1 electrical alarm switch. The basic switch assembly is order code 3VA2216-7MN32-0AA0. No ground-fault monitoring module is fitted.
Sourcing posture
This is a current-production Siemens MCCB. Quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution — availability and current pricing confirmed at quote time.
