MCCB with motor-protection curve and ETU350M
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2216-7MN32-0KC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the motor-protection version, rated for a continuous current Iu of 160 A. It carries an ETU350M electronic overcurrent release, which gives you adjustable thermal and magnetic settings tailored to motor starting characteristics — not just cable protection. The interrupting ratings are substantial: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V, so it handles high fault-current scenarios without cascading upstream. A built-in shunt trip (STL) and two HQ auxiliary switches are included on the basic switch.
Current derating and thermal limits
The 160 A rating holds from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that, the breaker derates: 153.6 A at 55 °C, 150.4 A at 60 °C, 147.2 A at 65 °C, and 144 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 75 W. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot, plan the load accordingly — the 160 A frame is good, but the trip unit needs to see the actual current.
Dimensions and panel fit
The 3VA2216-7MN32-0KC0 measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep. That width and depth are standard for the 3VA2 frame — it mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount adapter. Phase-failure detection is built in, and the trip indicator is not present on this variant. The auxiliary release is a shunt trip (STL); the integrated auxiliary trip order code is 3VA9688-0BL33. Undervoltage release is not fitted.
