Rated for 200 A continuous — what that means in the panel
The 3VA2220-7MN32-0KA0 is a Siemens SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 200 A continuous current (Iu) at 40 °C, and it holds that rating up to 50 °C — no derating needed until you cross 55 °C, where it steps down to 192 A. That 200 A figure is the load current it can carry indefinitely in a 40 °C enclosure; for motor protection duty, pair it with a contactor and overload relay sized to the motor FLA, not the breaker frame.
This MCCB interrupts 330 kA at 240 V AC, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V. Those are the maximum prospective fault currents it can safely clear without welding or rupturing. For a 200 A frame, those numbers are high — it's built for high-fault installations (large transformers, utility tie points) where downstream breakers need a fully rated upstream device.
Motor protection with ETU350M — phase failure detection built in
This is the motor protection version, fitted with an ETU350M electronic overcurrent release. It includes phase failure detection — so if one phase drops, the trip unit sees the imbalance and opens before single-phasing cooks the motor. The auxiliary release is a shunt trip (STL), and the integrated auxiliary trip is order code 3VA9688-0BL33.
