What it is and what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2220-7MS32-0JC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) with a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit rated 200 A continuously across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. The frame accepts trip units from 600 A up to 3000 A, meaning this breaker body can be re-fitted for a much larger load later, but as shipped it protects a 200 A circuit. Interrupting capacity is 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 187 kA at 500 V; at 690 V it drops to 5.2 kA, so confirm the available fault current at your system voltage before specifying. The breaker includes a shunt trip (STL) release and two auxiliary switches (HQ) for remote status indication, but no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, and no communication module. It is designed for starter protection — meaning it is sized to back up a motor starter rather than serve as the sole branch-circuit device on a resistive load.
Panel integration and physical fit
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the standard SENTRON footprint. The 3-pole body with integral shunt trip and two auxiliary switches fits within the same cutout as other 3VA2 frame sizes, so a panel laid out for a 3VA2116-5HL32-0AK0 or similar 3VA2 variant accepts this unit without rewiring the bus bars or drilling new mounting holes. Verify the line and load lug spacing matches your existing bus stack — the 3VA2 family uses the same terminal pitch across the frame range.
