What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2220-7MS32-0JL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 200 A continuous at 40 °C through 70 °C — no derating needed across that span, which simplifies panel thermal budgeting. Its adjustable thermal-magnetic trip unit covers a 600 A minimum to 3 000 A maximum range, so one breaker body can serve multiple motor or feeder sizes by dialing the trip setting. Breaking capacity is 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 5.2 kA at 690 V — the 690 V figure is low enough that you need to verify coordination if the circuit operates near that voltage. The high 330 kA at 240 V makes this breaker suitable for large transformer secondaries or busway feeds where fault current is extreme.
Auxiliary and release configuration
This variant ships with a shunt trip (STL) release and an auxiliary switch block: 2 auxiliary switches + 1 trip alarm switch + 1 electrical alarm switch HQ. That gives you remote trip capability and status feedback for a PLC or annunciator without adding a separate accessory module. The basic switch base is order code 3VA2220-7MS32-0AA0, which is the core breaker without the auxiliaries. Maximum power loss is 46 W — a useful number for enclosure heat-rise calculations if the breaker is in a sealed cabinet with other heat sources.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 86 mm depth, 105 mm width, 181 mm height — a standard SENTRON 3VA2 frame size that mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount adapter. The 105 mm width is the same as other 3-pole 3VA2 breakers, so a panel laid out for a 3VA2116-5HL32-0AK0 or similar will accept this unit without re-drilling or re-wiring the bus bars, provided the lug kit matches the cable size.
