MCCB for high-fault panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-5HN32-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current, with a breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V AC — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The ETU350 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves, so you can coordinate selectivity downstream. An integrated undervoltage release (UVR) lets safety circuits or emergency-stop chains drop the breaker directly.
Breaking capacity across voltages
This MCCB delivers 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 79 kA at 500 V, and 5.1 kA at 690 V. The steep drop at 690 V means you need to verify the available fault current if you're feeding a 690 V bus — the 5.1 kA rating is the limiting factor for that application.
Thermal derating and power loss
Rated 250 A from 40 °C to 50 °C ambient; above that, derate linearly to 213 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 50.5 W — plan ventilation or spacing in a sealed enclosure to keep internal temperature below the 70 °C operating limit. Storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
