What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-5HN32-0CH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a maximum breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V AC. That 187 kA figure at 240 V means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream cascading — critical for high-fault panels near large transformers or utility feeds. At 415 V and 440 V the breaking capacity holds at 121 kA, dropping to 75.6 kA at 500 V and 4.5 kA at 690 V, so the voltage class of your distribution determines which rating governs the installation. This is a line-protection design (not motor-protection), so it is sized for feeder and main-breaker duty in switchboards, panelboards, and distribution enclosures. The continuous current rating remains flat at 250 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 241 A at 55 °C, 232 A at 60 °C, 222 A at 65 °C, and 213 A at 70 °C — the thermal curve matters if the breaker sits in a hot enclosure or near other heat sources.
Dimensions and panel fit
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep — a 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits standard Siemens SENTRON mounting bases and busbar systems. The 86 mm depth (3.39 in) includes the case body; verify projection past the panel door or gland plate if the enclosure is shallow.
Integrated accessories and releases
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) and a complement of 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ design). The UVR trips the breaker when control voltage drops below the dropout threshold, which is standard for emergency-stop or undervoltage-protection schemes. A trip indicator is present on the front face for quick visual fault identification. The supplied basic switch is order code 3VA2225-5HN32-0AA0 — the base breaker without the auxiliary/UVR kit. If you already have a 3VA2225-5HN32-0AA0 in the panel and need to add the UVR and auxiliary switches, the 0CH0 variant is the factory-assembled version of that same base with those options installed.
Environmental and compliance
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss at rated current is 50.5 W — a figure to include in enclosure thermal calculations. Ground-fault monitoring is not fitted on this variant.
