What this MCCB delivers
The 3VA2225-5HN42-0BL0: The interrupting ratings climb steeply with system voltage: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 79 kA at 500 V, and 5.1 kA at 690 V. That means this breaker can be applied on high-fault panels downstream of large transformers without worrying about cascading failure — the SCCR headroom is substantial through 500 V. Thermal derating is mild up to 50 °C (full 250 A), then drops to 241 A at 55 °C, 232 A at 60 °C, 222 A at 65 °C, and 213 A at 70 °C. In a hot enclosure — say, a packed panel near a furnace line — plan for the 70 °C figure if the ambient inside the cabinet hits that limit.
Auxiliary and release complement
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) and a full auxiliary contact set: 2 auxiliary switches + 1 trip alarm switch + 1 electrical alarm switch HQ. The basic switch is order code 3VA2225-5HN42-0AA0; the integrated auxiliary trip is 3VA9608-0BB11. If you are replacing an existing unit, confirm those sub-assembly codes match your panel wiring — the UVR coil voltage and the auxiliary contact arrangement are what the control circuit expects.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 181 mm high × 140 mm wide × 86 mm deep. The 140 mm width on a 4-pole MCCB is standard for this frame size — check your existing busbar spacing and whether the breaker mounts on a DIN rail or bolts directly to a mounting plate (the SENTRON 3VA range supports both). Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. Maximum power loss is 50.5 W, which matters for thermal management in a sealed enclosure. If the panel already runs warm, factor that dissipation into the cabinet cooling budget.
