What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-5JP32-0JL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current, sized for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V — numbers that tell you it handles high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The 86 mm depth and 105 mm width fit the standard SENTRON 3VA footprint, so it drops into existing panel layouts without re-drilling the mounting plate.
Thermal derating — the real-world current limit
This breaker holds its full 250 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates linearly: 238 A at 55 °C, 225 A at 60 °C, 213 A at 65 °C, and 200 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs hot — say a packed enclosure near a furnace line — the 70 °C figure is the one to spec against, not the nameplate 250 A. The maximum power loss of 48 W also factors into the enclosure thermal budget.
Auxiliaries and communication built in
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus a trip alarm switch and an electrical alarm switch (HQ type), plus a shunt trip release (STL). The communication function means it can report status and accept remote trip commands over the bus — useful for a BMS or SCADA-connected distribution board. No undervoltage release and no ground-fault monitoring on this variant, so if those are required they need an external module or a different order code.
