What this 250 A MCCB delivers on the line
The Siemens 3VA2225-5JP42-0AG0 is a 4-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 250 A at 40 °C, carrying a full 250 A up to 50 °C before derating begins — at 55 °C it still holds 238 A, and at 70 °C it delivers 200 A. That thermal curve means this breaker can live in a warm panel without stepping down a frame size. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V. For a 250 A frame, those numbers give serious headroom on high-fault commercial and industrial services — you can coordinate downstream without worrying about the main letting through. The electronic trip unit is an ETU550, which gives you adjustable N-conductor protection (OFF or 20 % to 100 % of phase setting) plus a communication function for remote monitoring or integration into a power management system. A 1 AUX + 1 trip alarm HP auxiliary contact block is built in.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 86 mm deep, 140 mm wide, 181 mm tall. Front protection is IP40, meaning tools and fingers stay out but the breaker is not sealed against washdown — mount it inside a panel enclosure, not in a wet area.
