What this 3VA2 MCCB carries
The Siemens 3VA2225-5JP42-0DF0 is a 4-pole IEC frame 250 molded-case circuit breaker with a 55 kA breaking capacity at 415 V (class M), sized for main or feeder protection in distribution panels where fault levels run high enough that a standard 36 kA breaker would not hold coordination. Its ETU550 electronic trip unit provides LSI protection — long-time (Ir adjustable 100–250 A), short-time (Isd 0.6–10× In), and instantaneous (Ii 1.5–10× In) — plus adjustable neutral protection (OFF to 100 %), which gives the site engineer the selectivity curves needed to coordinate downstream branch breakers without nuisance tripping on motor inrush. The breaker ships with a nut keeper kit, an undervoltage release (UVR) rated 208–230 V AC 50/60 Hz, one auxiliary switch (HQ), and one trip alarm switch (HQ) — all factory-fitted, so the panel builder does not need to order accessory kits separately for the UVR and signaling contacts.
Integration notes for the panel builder
Mounts on a standard DIN rail or directly to the panel backplate via the frame's four-bolt pattern. The 4-pole form factor occupies roughly 280 mm of DIN width; account for the UVR coil draw when sizing the control transformer feeding the 208–230 V AC circuit. The auxiliary and alarm switches (both HQ type) provide volt-free changeover contacts for remote status indication — wire the trip alarm into the PLC's safety input chain so a breaker trip is visible at the HMI without a separate monitoring relay.
