Line protection MCCB, 250 A, 4-pole — what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-5JP42-0KH0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for continuous 250 A at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V AC. That 250 A continuous rating holds up to 50 °C without derating; above that the curve steps down to 200 A at 70 °C (–). The 187 kA at 240 V tells you this breaker can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level on a 240 V line — critical for high-fault installations like transformer secondaries or large motor control centers.
Dimensions and panel fit
At 86 mm deep, 140 mm wide, and 181 mm tall, this MCCB fits standard SENTRON mounting footprints. The 86 mm depth is the dimension from the mounting surface to the front of the breaker — relevant when planning gland-plate clearance or enclosure depth.
Accessories and wiring
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ) and a shunt trip release (STL). The communication function is built in, eliminating the need for a separate module on the line side. No undervoltage release is included — if you need UVR, plan for an external add-on.
