The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-5KP32-0KC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current, fitted with an ETU850 electronic trip unit for line protection. It carries a 187 kA interrupting rating at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V, making it a high-fault-current unit for main or feeder protection in industrial switchboards.
The 250 A rating holds at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C without derating; at 55 °C it drops to 238 A, and at 70 °C to 200 A. The 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V tell you this breaker can interrupt very high fault currents typical at the service entrance or near large transformers. At 690 V the rating drops to 5.1 kA, so it is not a primary choice for 690 V distribution without coordination study. Maximum power loss is 48 W.
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep. The 86 mm depth includes the case body; allow extra clearance for the shunt trip (STL) and auxiliary switch wiring.
Trip unit and accessories
The ETU850 is an electronic overcurrent release with communication capability. It supports voltage triggering (yes) and other measurement functions.
