What this breaker does on the line
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-6HL32-0BH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a maximum breaking capacity of 242 kA at 240 VAC. At 415 VAC it still interrupts 187 kA, which means it handles high-fault utility feeds or large transformer secondaries without cascading failure upstream. The design is line protection — intended for main or feeder breaker duty, not motor branch circuit protection. It ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted and two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HQ). The basic switch variant is 3VA2225-6HL32-0AA0. No communication function, no ground-fault monitoring version.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker holds 250 A flat from 40 °C through 50 °C (–). At 55 °C it derates to 241 A, and at 70 °C it still carries 213 A (–). That thermal performance means it can sit in a moderately warm enclosure without forced ventilation and still deliver close to nameplate current. Dimensions are 181 mm high × 105 mm wide × 86 mm deep (–) — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint, so it drops into existing SENTRON panel buswork without re-drilling.
