MCCB for takt-time lines
The Siemens 3VA2225-6HL32-0JL0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution and motor feeder applications. Its 242 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V handles fault currents on high-available-power industrial grids without cascading upstream — keeps selectivity intact downstream of a transformer or main bus. Breaking capacity holds 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, drops to 121 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V — the 690 V rating is the limiting case for systems running above 480 V. For a 400 V distribution board, the 187 kA figure gives ample SCCR headroom for most industrial service entrances. The breaker carries a shunt trip release (STL) plus 2 auxiliary switches, 1 trip alarm switch, and 1 electrical alarm switch — enough feedback contacts for PLC-based fault annunciation and remote tripping without an external interposing relay.
Thermal derating and panel fit
At 40 °C, 45 °C, and 50 °C ambient the breaker holds full 250 A rating. At 55 °C it derates to 241 A, at 60 °C to 232 A, at 65 °C to 222 A, and at 70 °C to 213 A — useful when the MCCB shares a tightly packed enclosure with other heat sources. Maximum power loss is 48 W at rated current. Dimensions: 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep. The 3-pole width of 105 mm is standard for this frame size — fits existing SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts and busbar arrangements without re-drilling.
