Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-6HN42-0AA0 — 250 A 4-Pole MCCB with ETU350
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-6HN42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current, designed for line protection in industrial distribution panels. Its ETU350 electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves, making it suitable for feeder circuits in manufacturing plants, data centers, and commercial buildings where selective coordination is required. Breaking capacity is 242 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 121 kA at 500 V — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries. At 690 V it still interrupts 4.5 kA, covering most industrial motor circuits.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Full 250 A rating holds up to 50 °C ambient; above that it derates linearly to 213 A at 70 °C. If the breaker lives in a hot enclosure next to transformers or drives, plan for the 55 °C derate to 241 A and the 65 °C figure of 222 A. Dimensions are 140 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint that fits most Siemens SENTRON panelboards and switchboards. Front protection is IP40, so the breaker face is protected against tools and small debris but not washdown. Power loss is 48 W maximum at rated current — factor that into enclosure ventilation, especially when multiple breakers are ganged in a single section.
Trip unit and protection features
The ETU350 electronic trip unit supports LSIG protection (long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault) but this variant ships without ground-fault monitoring. No undervoltage release, no voltage trigger, and no communication function are fitted on this order code. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, and the breaker can handle 2500 A maximum (the frame rating). Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
