Rating and selection
The Siemens 3VA2225-6JP32-0DC0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a 3-pole configuration designed for line protection. Its breaking capacity reaches 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V — so the SCCR you can declare downstream depends on the system voltage you're coordinating. The part carries an undervoltage release (UVR) and two auxiliary switches (HQ type), plus a communication function for integration into a monitored distribution system.
Thermal derating and power loss
The breaker holds its full 250 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, the continuous current derates linearly: 238 A at 55 °C, 225 A at 60 °C, 213 A at 65 °C, and 200 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 50.5 W. If your panel ambient runs hot — say, inside a non-conditioned enclosure near a furnace line — you need to size the breaker for the derated value, not the nameplate 250 A.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep. That 105 mm width is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this class — it fits the same DIN-rail or screw-mount positions as other SENTRON 3VA2 frames. The 86 mm depth includes the arc chamber and terminals; verify clearance for the undervoltage release and auxiliary switch wiring at the front of the panel.
