What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2225-6JP32-0DL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its 3-pole construction handles three-phase loads up to 250 A without derating up to 50 °C — above that, the thermal curve drops to 238 A at 55 °C and 200 A at 70 °C, so panel ambient temperature directly governs the usable ampacity. Breaking capacity varies sharply with line voltage: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V. That 690 V figure is the weak point — if your system runs 690 V phase-to-phase, this breaker's interrupting rating drops to 4.5 kA, so verify the available fault current before specifying.
Integration and mounting
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint that fits most Siemens SENTRON panelboards and third-party enclosures with a 3-pole cutout. The unit includes a trip indicator, undervoltage release, and a complement of auxiliary switches: two auxiliary switches, one trip alarm switch, and one electrical alarm switch (HQ design). Maximum power loss is 50.5 W — plan for that heat in a sealed enclosure; it's not extreme for a 250 A frame but enough to matter in a densely populated panel. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
