What this MCCB delivers on the line side
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-6JQ32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current, with an ETU560 electronic trip unit configured for line protection. It carries a 242 kA breaking capacity at 240 V, stepping down to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 6 kA at 690 V — so it handles high-fault-current service-entrance and distribution applications, not just motor branch circuits. The ETU560 electronic trip unit provides adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves, with communication capability for integration into a power-monitoring scheme. The shunt-trip release (STL) is built in, letting you remotely trip the breaker from a safety circuit or emergency-stop chain.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Full 250 A rating holds through 50 °C ambient; above that it derates linearly to 200 A at 70 °C. That means in a warm enclosure — typical for a packed switchboard — you need to account for the 225 A at 60 °C or 213 A at 65 °C if the breaker sits near other heat sources. Dimensions are 86 mm deep, 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that drops into SENTRON 3VA2 panelboards and most DIN-rail adapter plates. No trip indicator on the front face, so plan for a remote indication via the communication port or an external auxiliary contact block.
