What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2225-6JQ32-0JC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current, with an electronic trip unit ETU560 and a 3-pole configuration for line protection. It's designed to interrupt fault currents up to 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V, and 6 kA at 690 V, which means it can handle high-fault scenarios typical in industrial distribution panels without cascading upstream.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 250 A continuous rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C — no derating needed in a warm enclosure until you push past 55 °C, where it drops to 238 A, then 225 A at 60 °C, and 200 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient sits at 55 °C or above, size the load accordingly. The ETU560 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable thermal-magnetic curves plus ground-fault summation-current sensing on the L-conductor. The shunt trip (STL) is built in, and the 2 HQ auxiliary switches (form C) are integrated — no extra module to snap on. At 105 mm wide by 181 mm tall by 86 mm deep, it mounts on a standard DIN rail or panel-mount base.
Where it goes in the panel
Drop this into a main distribution panel or sub-feed as a line-side protective device. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) covers 480 V and 600 V class systems with margin. It dissipates up to 48 W at full load — ensure ventilation or spacing around the breaker, especially if you're stacking multiple units in a row.
