What this MCCB delivers for the panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-7HL32-0AB0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current, with an ETU320 electronic trip unit handling line protection. Its breaking capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V AC and 242 kA at 415 V AC — figures that give selectivity headroom for high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries. The 800 V rated insulation voltage means it can sit on 690 V buswork without derating the dielectric. Front IP40 keeps dust out of the trip unit adjustment area in a clean panel environment.
Thermal derating and real-world current
At 40 °C, 45 °C, and 50 °C the breaker carries the full 250 A without derating. At 55 °C it drops to 241 A, at 60 °C to 232 A, and at 70 °C to 213 A. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C — say a crowded enclosure near a furnace line — the continuous load must be trimmed accordingly. The maximum power loss of 48 W at rated current should be factored into the enclosure thermal budget.
Dimensions and panel fit
Measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep. The 105 mm width is standard for a 3-pole frame in this class.
Auxiliary contacts and wiring
It ships with two auxiliary switches (HP type) built in, so you get status feedback without adding a separate accessory block. No undervoltage release, no shunt trip, no ground-fault module — those are external add-ons if the application requires them. The ETU320 is a basic electronic trip with no communication or phase-failure detection; if you need those, step up to the ETU6xx series.
Environmental limits
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The storage limit matters for warehousing — keep it above -40 °C and below 80 °C to avoid seal or plastic degradation before installation.
