MCCB for high-fault panels
The Siemens 3VA2225-7HL32-0AC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current at 40 °C, sized for line protection in distribution panels where fault currents can exceed 300 kA. Three-pole construction, no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring — it's a straight thermal-magnetic protector for the main feeder. Breaking capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V, dropping to 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 187 kA at 500 V. At 690 V it's still rated 4.5 kA — enough for most industrial low-voltage switchgear. The 250 A frame carries full current up to 50 °C without derating; at 70 °C it's still good for 213 A.
Physical fit and integration
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep. Mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount base in a standard enclosure. The 86 mm depth fits most 200 mm deep cabinets with clearance for outgoing cables. Two HQ auxiliary switches are integrated; no communication module or auxiliary release is fitted on this variant.
Thermal performance envelope
Maximum power loss is 48 W at rated load. Operating temperature range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. The continuous current rating holds flat at 250 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates linearly: 241 A at 55 °C, 232 A at 60 °C, 222 A at 65 °C, 213 A at 70 °C. Panel builders should account for the 48 W heat dissipation in enclosure thermal calculations.
