What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2225-7HL32-0AG0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current, designed specifically for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a maximum breaking capacity of 2,500 A and a minimum of 375 A, with voltage-dependent interrupting ratings that reach 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V — so the same breaker body handles everything from low-voltage service entrances up to 690 V motor branch circuits, with the interrupting rating scaling to match the available fault current at each voltage level.
Thermal derating and panel integration
Rated 250 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient; above that it derates linearly to 241 A at 55 °C, 232 A at 60 °C, 222 A at 65 °C, and 213 A at 70 °C. That means in a sealed, uncooled enclosure hitting 60 °C — common in packed MCC lineups — you lose about 7 % of the continuous rating. The 86 mm depth, 105 mm width, and 181 mm height (3.39 × 4.13 × 7.13 in) fit standard SENTRON panel cutouts; the 3-pole block occupies the same footprint as other 250 A frames in the series, so a panel laid out for a 3VA2 can take this unit without re-drilling the gland plate.
