What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-7HN32-0JL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current, designed for line protection in industrial distribution panels. Its breaking capacity scales with system voltage: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V — so it clears high fault currents on the low-voltage side while still handling a 690 V line where the available fault current is modest. The 250 A rating holds at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C; above that it derates to 241 A at 55 °C, 232 A at 60 °C, 222 A at 65 °C, and 213 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs warm, that derating curve tells you whether this frame size still fits.
Auxiliary and release configuration
This variant ships with a shunt trip release (STL) and a full auxiliary switch complement: 2 auxiliary switches, 1 trip alarm switch, and 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ type). The shunt trip lets you remotely trip the breaker from a safety circuit or emergency-stop chain — common in cold-storage ammonia rooms where a gas-detection system needs to kill power without a manual panel visit. The alarm switches give the PLC a hard-wired status of trip vs. normal, which simplifies fault annunciation in a BMS.
Mounting and environment
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, and 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame that bolts into a distribution panel or switchboard. It operates from -25 °C to 70 °C and stores from -40 °C to 80 °C, so it runs cold and stays cold in an unheated freezer antechamber. Maximum power loss is 48 W at rated load; factor that into your enclosure ventilation if the panel is tightly packed.
