What this MCCB delivers — and where the ratings matter
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-7HN42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current, built around the ETU350 electronic trip unit. It's designed for line protection — the main feeder or large subfeed in a distribution panel where you need adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves. Breaking capacity is the headline here: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 4.5 kA at 690 V. At 415/440 V that's well above typical utility fault levels in most industrial installations — you're buying selectivity headroom for downstream breakers without worrying about cascading failure. The 250 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that it derates: 241 A at 55 °C, 232 A at 60 °C, 222 A at 65 °C, 213 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot — say a non-climate-controlled enclosure near a furnace line — factor that curve into your load calculation. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V. Power loss at full load is 48 W maximum.
Mounting and integration
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 140 mm wide, 86 mm deep. That's a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint — it bolts into the same mounting holes and bus-bar pattern as other SENTRON 3VA breakers in this frame size. IP40 on the front face means it's protected against tools and small wires entering the front, but the back and sides rely on the panel enclosure for the overall IP rating.
