What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-7KP32-0AD0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 330 kA at 240 V and 242 kA at 415 V — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The ETU850 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves, plus a communication function for integration into a plant-wide monitoring system. Three auxiliary switches (HQ type) are built in, so you get status feedback without adding external contact blocks.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
This MCCB's interrupting rating drops as system voltage rises: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 6.3 kA at 690 V. At 690 V the 6.3 kA figure is modest — not a high-fault 690 V breaker — so if your panel runs 690 V with available fault current above that, you need a different frame. The 242 kA at 415 V is the number most European and Asian industrial panels care about; it gives you headroom for selective coordination with downstream breakers.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Rated 250 A up to 50 °C ambient, then derates linearly to 200 A at 70 °C. If your enclosure runs hot — say a packed MCC lineup near a furnace — plan for the 55 °C derate to 238 A or the 60 °C figure of 225 A. Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep; it mounts on a DIN rail or direct panel. Front face is IP40, so it's fine for a clean indoor panel but not washdown areas.
