What this 250 A MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2225-8KP32-0LA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its breaking capacity scales with system voltage: 440 kA at 240 V, 330 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 220 kA at 500 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V — so the same frame covers everything from a 240 V service entrance to a 690 V motor control center without a different breaker. The 250 A rating holds from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient; above that it derates linearly to 200 A at 70 °C, which matters if the breaker sits in a hot enclosure or next to other heat sources. This is a line-protection design (not motor-protection), so the trip curve is set for cable and busbar protection. It ships with a universal trigger (UNI) auxiliary release and an undervoltage release, plus communication and other measurement functions — meaning it can report trip events and status back to a PLC or BMS without an add-on module.
Mounting and panel fit
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures without re-drilling. The 86 mm depth (3.39 in) is the dimension to check against gland-plate clearance in shallow cabinets.
