What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2325-5JQ32-0BA0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) for line protection, rated at 250 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Three poles, with an ETU560 electronic trip unit that gives you adjustable long-time (tr 0.5–25 s) and short-time (tsd max 0.5 s) response values. The interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and still holds 55 kA at 440 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream.
Sizing and selectivity for the panel
The 250 A frame with the ETU560 release lets you set long-time pickup and delay to coordinate with downstream branch breakers — the adjustable tr (0.5–25 s) and tsd (0.5 s max) give you real selectivity headroom against a 100 A feeder breaker. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) means it's comfortable on 480 V or 600 V class systems without a voltage derate. Ground-fault detection is built in via summation current formation on the L-conductor, so you don't need an external GF module for that function.
Mounting and integration notes
Panel footprint: 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall, 110 mm deep. Front face carries IP40 protection — fine for a standard enclosed panel, but keep it out of direct washdown zones. The communication function means it can talk to a higher-level system via the ETU's optional comm module, though the base unit ships without one. Latching endurance is rated at 20,000 operations — plenty for a main or feeder breaker that cycles infrequently.
