What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2325-5KP42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for line protection in distribution panels. It carries 250 A continuous at 40 °C through all four poles, with the same 250 A rating holding flat through 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ambient. The ETU850 electronic trip unit handles the overcurrent protection logic, and the breaker includes a communication function for integration into a monitored system.
Breaking capacity — what the numbers mean for your fault level
This breaker's interrupting capacity is rated per voltage level: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. The 187 kA at 240 V is the headline figure — that's the short-circuit current it can safely clear at that voltage without welding contacts or venting plasma. At 690 V the capacity drops to 7.5 kA, so if your fault current at that voltage exceeds that, this isn't the right frame. The minimum breaking capacity is 375 A, meaning it's not designed for very low-fault branches.
Panel fit and dimensions
Dimensions: 248 mm high, 184 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The 184 mm width is for the 4-pole frame.
Trip unit and protection features
The ETU850 is an electronic trip unit with adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves. It has a communication function for remote monitoring and parameterization. No undervoltage release or voltage trigger is built in. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V.
