MCCB for motor branch circuits — 250 A, 3-pole, SENTRON 3VA2
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2325-5MN32-0AH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 250 A continuously across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Designed specifically for motor protection, it includes phase failure detection and a trip indicator, with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ) for status feedback to a PLC or remote I/O. The interrupting ratings are the headline: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA at 240 V means this breaker can safely clear a fault on a high-capacity transformer secondary without needing a current-limiting fuse upstream — a real advantage in large motor control centers where available fault current runs high. Maximum power loss is 37.5 W, which matters for enclosure thermal management when several breakers are ganged in a panel. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
Panel fit and integration
Footprint is 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall, 110 mm deep — standard for a 250 A frame in the SENTRON 3VA2 family. The basic switch variant is order code 3VA2325-5MN32-0AA0; this -0AH0 adds the auxiliary switch and trip alarm block factory-installed. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module on this variant — it's a straight motor-protection breaker with local indication.
