250 A MCCB with ETU550 — what the ratings mean for panel fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2325-6JP32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 250 A continuous current (Iu) across its full ambient range — 250 A from 40 °C through 70 °C, no derating needed inside a warm enclosure. That flat thermal curve is unusual for an MCCB of this frame size and simplifies panel sizing when the ambient runs hot. Breaking capacity scales with system voltage: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. That 242 kA figure at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds and transformer secondaries; the 7.5 kA at 690 V still clears a low-level fault on 690 V distribution. The ETU550 electronic trip unit provides LSIG or LSI protection with adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault settings — configurable for selective coordination downstream.
Panel integration and wiring constraints
Dimensions are 248 mm high × 138 mm wide × 110 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this frame class. The IP40 front protection means it is suitable for enclosed panel mounting where the door or cover provides the environmental seal; not intended for open or washdown locations without an outer enclosure. Neutral conductor protection adjustable from OFF through 20 % to 160 % of phase setting. Onboard communication function means this variant can integrate with a bus system — typically PROFIBUS or PROFINET via a communication module — for remote monitoring and trip-event logging. No undervoltage release or voltage-trip accessory is fitted from the factory; those are add-on options.
