What It Is and What It Does
The Siemens 3VA2325-7MN32-0KF0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed specifically for motor protection. It carries a full 250 A rating across the entire ambient temperature range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling, which simplifies panel sizing when the breaker sits near warm drives or transformers. Three poles, with phase failure detection built in. The breaker includes a shunt trip release (STL) for remote tripping and a combined auxiliary switch plus trip alarm switch (1 AUX + 1 alarm HQ) for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel.
Breaking Capacity — What the Numbers Mean for Selectivity
The interrupting rating hits 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. That 330 kA at 240 V is high enough for most secondary-side transformer feeds or large busway taps; the steep drop to 7.5 kA at 690 V means this breaker is not intended for 690 V motor circuits unless the available fault current is tightly controlled. For a 480 V panel fed by a 1500 kVA transformer, the 187 kA at 500 V gives comfortable headroom.
Mounting and Integration
Dimensions: 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. That depth (110 mm) is shallow enough to fit a standard 200 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring gutters. The width (138 mm) is a three-pole frame; verify the mounting footprint against your existing backpanel — it may require a different cutout than older 3VA2 frames.
