What this 4-pole 250 A MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2325-8HK42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 250 A continuously from 40 °C through 70 °C — no derating needed across that span, which simplifies panel design in warm enclosures. It carries a 440 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, 330 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 220 kA at 500 V, and 53 kA at 690 V. Those numbers mean it can clear a fault at the full available short-circuit current of most industrial distribution transformers without cascading upstream breakers. The ETU340 electronic trip unit provides adjustable long-time (Ig) pickup from 1500 A and instantaneous (Ii) fixed at 3750 A, with N-conductor protection configurable to OFF, 50%, or 100% of the phase setting. The 184 mm width and 110 mm depth fit standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts, so a panel designed for a 3VA2 frame accepts this unit without rework. IP40 on the front protects against tool entry in a closed cabinet; no ground-fault monitoring is built in, so external GFCI modules are needed where code requires it.
Integration and compliance notes
Mounts in a standard SENTRON 3VA2 panel cutout. The optional motor drive allows remote closing, useful for automated transfer schemes. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range -40 °C to 80 °C. Insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, so it can be applied in 690 V line-to-line systems. The reference code per IEC 81346-2 is Q (switching device).
