What this 250 A MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2325-8HL42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 250 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. It carries a 440 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, stepping down to 330 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 220 kA at 500 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V. That's a serious fault-current rating for a 250 A frame; it handles high available fault currents without cascading upstream breakers. This is a 4-pole unit configured for line protection, with an ETU320 electronic trip unit. The N-conductor protection is adjustable — OFF, 50%, or 100% of the phase current — which gives flexibility for different system grounding schemes. No undervoltage release, no voltage trigger, no ground-fault monitoring, and no communication function on this variant.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 184 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The IP40 rating on the front means it's protected against tools and wires >1 mm — standard for enclosed panel mounting, but not for washdown or outdoor exposure. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 37.5 W — account for that in your enclosure thermal calculation if you're packing several breakers in a small cabinet.
