Breaking capacity and thermal derating
The 3VA2340-5JP32-0BA0: The 187 kA at 240 V is the headline figure, but the breaker also carries 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — so the SCCR headroom stays high across common industrial voltages. Rated continuous current Iu is 400 A, and the thermal derating curve is published: full 400 A up to 50 °C, then 375 A at 55 °C, 350 A at 60 °C, 325 A at 65 °C, and 300 A at 70 °C. That means in a warm panel you derate by about 25 % at the top end.
Trip unit and auxiliary releases
The ETU550 is a microprocessor-based overcurrent release — adjustable, with LSI protection curves (long-time, short-time, instantaneous). An undervoltage release (UVR) is built in, designed as 3VA9608-0BB11. The breaker also has a communication function, though no auxiliary contact version is fitted from the factory. Maximum power loss is 98.5 W, which matters for enclosure thermal calculations.
Physical fit and environment
Dimensions: 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or panel in a standard distribution board. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) covers most low-voltage switchgear applications.
