400 A MCCB with shunt trip and onboard comms
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-5JP32-0HC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous at 40 °C, designed for line protection in distribution panels and industrial switchboards. It carries a shunt trip release (STL) and two HQ auxiliary switches, plus an onboard communication function — so it can report status or trip events back to a PLC or SCADA without a separate interface module. The interrupting ratings are 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415/440 V; at 690 V it still clears 7.5 kA.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker holds its full 400 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates linearly: 375 A at 55 °C, 350 A at 60 °C, 325 A at 65 °C, and 300 A at 70 °C. If the panel runs hot — say a crowded switchgear lineup or a non-climate-controlled enclosure — size the load to the derated value, not the nameplate. The case dimensions are 248 mm high × 138 mm wide × 110 mm deep, which is the standard 3VA frame footprint; it will bolt into the same mounting pattern as other 3VA breakers in this frame size.
