SENTRON 3VA2340-5JQ32-0KL0 — 400 A MCCB with adjustable electronic trip
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-5JQ32-0KL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current of 400 A at 40 °C through 50 °C, with a thermal derating curve that drops to 300 A at 70 °C. Its electronic trip unit is adjustable from 600 A to 4000 A full-scale, with an initial setting of 80 A, giving the specifying engineer selectivity headroom across a wide feeder range. Breaking capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V AC, and 75.6 kA at 500 V AC — figures that satisfy high-fault utility service entrances and large industrial switchboards without cascading upstream.
Panel footprint and integration
The breaker occupies 248 mm height, 138 mm width, and 110 mm depth — a 3-pole frame that fits standard SENTRON mounting patterns and leaves room for the factory-fitted auxiliary switch complement: two auxiliary switches, one trip alarm switch, and one electrical alarm switch (HQ type). A shunt trip release (STL) is included for remote tripping; undervoltage release is not fitted on this variant. Maximum power loss is 96 W — factor that into enclosure thermal rise calculations, especially in sealed stainless-steel panels where natural convection is limited.
