What this MCCB delivers on a 400 A feeder
The SENTRON 3VA2340-5JQ42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 400 A continuous, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V — enough to clear high-fault scenarios on a main or large feeder without cascading upstream. The 400 A rating holds from 40 °C through 50 °C; above that it derates to 375 A at 55 °C, 350 A at 60 °C, 325 A at 65 °C, and 300 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot, size the upstream protection for the derated value, not the nameplate.
Breaking capacity by voltage — where it fits
At 500 V the breaker still clears 75.6 kA; at 690 V it drops to 7.5 kA. That makes it a strong choice for 480 V or 600 V class systems where fault current stays under 75 kA, but not for 690 V industrial networks with high prospective short-circuit current.
Panel fit and integration
The breaker measures 184 mm wide, 248 mm tall, and 110 mm deep — a 4-pole frame that occupies standard MCCB panel space. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and maximum power loss is 96 W, so factor that into enclosure ventilation. It includes ground-fault monitoring via summation current formation on L + N, and a communication function for integration into a BMS or power monitoring system.
