MCCB for high-fault panel builds
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-6HL32-0DH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a massive 242 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. It is designed for line protection (cable/ busbar/ distribution) and ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) plus two auxiliary switches and one trip alarm switch — covers both remote trip supervision and undervoltage lockout in one package.
Ratings and what they mean for your panel
The 400 A frame holds its full rating from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates linearly: 385 A at 55 °C, 370 A at 60 °C, 355 A at 65 °C, 340 A at 70 °C. If your enclosure runs hot, you lose 15 A per 5 °C step above 50 °C. Interrupting capacity drops steeply above 500 V: 121 kA at 500 V, then only 7.5 kA at 690 V. This breaker is built for 240–500 V distribution; at 690 V the fault clearing is limited to light-duty industrial grids. Maximum power loss is 98.5 W — factor that into your enclosure thermal budget, especially if the breaker is mounted alongside other heat sources in a sealed cabinet.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
The basic switch core is 3VA2340-6HL32-0AA0; the -0DH0 suffix adds the undervoltage release and auxiliary switch complement. If your BOM already uses the -0AA0 variant, the -0DH0 is a direct functional upgrade with the same mounting footprint.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions: 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. Mounts on a standard DIN rail or direct panel — the 110 mm depth leaves room for rear-exit cables in a 300 mm deep enclosure. Trip indicator is present; no communication module or ground-fault monitoring on this variant. The auxiliary switches and trip alarm (HQ) give you status feedback for a PLC or SCADA input without extra wiring.
