What this 3VA2 MCCB carries
The Siemens 3VA2340-6HN32-0JL0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous at 40 °C ambient, with a 3-pole configuration and a maximum breaking capacity of 242 kA at 240 V AC. Breaking capacity drops to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V — so the voltage class you're protecting determines the fault-clearing headroom. Thermal derating starts at 55 °C: 385 A at 55 °C, 370 A at 60 °C, 355 A at 65 °C, and 340 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, factor that into the load schedule.
Built-in auxiliaries and release
This variant ships with a shunt trip (STL) release and a complement of auxiliary switches: two auxiliary switches, one trip alarm switch, and one electrical alarm switch (HQ type). The shunt trip allows remote tripping from a PLC or safety relay — useful for emergency-stop circuits or load-shedding schemes where you need to open the breaker without a manual action. No undervoltage release is fitted, and no ground-fault monitoring version is included. If UVR or GF protection is required, this is not the variant.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, and 110 mm deep — a standard 3VA2 frame size that drops into the same mounting footprint as other 3VA2 3-pole units in the 400 A class. The breaker is designed for line protection (cable/feeder protection) and carries a trip indicator plus a voltage trigger function. Maximum power loss is 96 W at rated load — account for that heat in the enclosure thermal calculation, especially in a sealed panel.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C.
