Line protection breaker with communication and adjustable trip
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-6JP32-0JC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 400 A and an adjustable trip range from 600 A to 4 000 A, so you can set the instantaneous pickup to match the downstream load without swapping the breaker frame. Breaking capacity is 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. At 415 V, that 187 kA rating means this breaker can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without upstream fuses — a key spec for high-fault panels in industrial mains. Thermal derating is published across the full ambient range: 400 A from 40 °C to 50 °C (–), then 375 A at 55 °C, 350 A at 60 °C, 325 A at 65 °C, and 300 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs at 55 °C, you lose 25 A of headroom — factor that into the load schedule. This variant includes a communication function and a shunt trip release (STL), plus two HQ auxiliary switches. The basic switch is order code 3VA2340-6JP32-0AA0. Maximum power loss is 96 W.
Physical integration
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, and 110 mm deep (–). The 138 mm width is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this SENTRON frame size — verify the panel cutout and busbar spacing against the existing layout before ordering.
