The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-6JQ32-0CC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a full-scale current of 400 A and an adjustable thermal-magnetic trip range from 600 A minimum to 4000 A maximum. Its interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V AC and 187 kA at 415/440 V, dropping to 121 kA at 500 V and 7.5 kA at 690 V — so for most 400 V class distribution panels this breaker clears faults well into the high-fault zone without cascading upstream.
Thermal derating and ambient compensation
Rated current holds at 400 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates linearly: 375 A at 55 °C, 350 A at 60 °C, 325 A at 65 °C, and 300 A at 70 °C. If the panel runs hot — say a packed enclosure near a furnace line — the 70 °C figure is the one to size against, not the nameplate 400 A.
Auxiliaries and communication
This variant ships with two HQ auxiliary switches and an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted. The UVR trips the breaker when control voltage drops below a set threshold — standard for emergency-stop chains or undervoltage protection schemes. Communication function is onboard, so it can report status or accept remote commands over the SENTRON bus system.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Listed as current production. Sourced to order against an RFQ through independent distribution; availability and current pricing confirmed at quote time.
Physical fit
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA2 frame size. Mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount via the rear slots.
