What this MCCB delivers on the line side
The Siemens 3VA2340-7HL32-0BC0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a maximum breaking capacity of 330 kA at 240 V. That 330 kA figure means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without upstream cascading — critical for high-fault installations like utility-scale PV inverters or large motor control centers where the available fault current can exceed 200 kA. The breaker holds its full 400 A rating up to 50 °C; above that it derates linearly to 340 A at 70 °C, so panel ambient temperature must be factored into the continuous load. This is a line-protection design (not motor-protection), so it's intended for feeder or main breaker duty where the load is a distribution bus, not a single motor. It ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) and two HQ auxiliary switches, which means it's ready for remote trip indication and undervoltage protection without adding accessories. The supplied basic switch is order code 3VA2340-7HL32-0AA0.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures. The 110 mm depth means it will clear a 120 mm deep enclosure without interference, but a 100 mm deep enclosure is too tight. Power loss at rated current is 98.5 W, so ventilation or derating may be needed in sealed cabinets.
